Position Summary
Seeking a motivated and knowledgeableΒ Building Materials Sales RepresentativeΒ to develop and manage relationships with builders, contractors, and construction professionals throughout the Savannah and Lowcountry markets.
This role focuses on driving revenue growth through consultative sales, jobsite support, accurate material recommendations, and consistent customer engagement. The ideal candidate understands construction workflows, has strong product knowledge in lumber and building materials, and enjoys being a trusted resource to professional customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and commercial construction professionals.
- Maintain and grow an existing customer base through proactive account management.
- Provide consultative product recommendations including lumber, framing materials, hardware, and specialty building products.
- Prepare and present accurate material quotes and project takeoffs when applicable.
- Coordinate closely with inside sales, yard staff, and delivery teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to identify project needs and opportunities.
- Track pipeline activity, customer interactions, and sales performance within CRM systems.
- Monitor market trends, competitive products, and local construction activity.
- Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after project completion.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in building materials sales, construction supply, lumberyards, or construction industry roles.
- Strong knowledge of residential or light commercial construction practices.
- Proven ability to build long-term client relationships and generate new business.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated with strong time management and territory planning ability.
- Valid driverβs license and willingness to travel throughout the Savannah and Lowcountry region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established relationships with local contractors or builders.
- Experience with estimating, takeoffs, or blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with lumber grades, framing packages, windows/doors, or specialty building products.
- CRM or sales pipeline management experience.
